Jennifer Johnson

Provider Solutions Manager,
South Carolina Office of Rural Health

Bio

My name is Jennifer Johnson, and I serve as the Provider Solutions Manager at the South Carolina Office of Rural Health. In this role, I collaborate with more than 100 rural health clinics across the state, supporting efforts to improve clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement sustainable strategies that elevate patient care and strengthen healthcare teams. I grew up in Edgefield, South Carolina, and was the first in my family to earn a college degree—earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina – Aiken. Throughout my career, I’ve advanced from direct patient care roles to healthcare administration, all driven by a deep commitment to equitable, high-quality care in rural communities. I hold several certifications, including Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional (CRHCP), Rural Health Coding and Billing Specialist (RHCB), and Certified Revenue Cycle Associate (CRCA). My training also includes credentials in Evaluation and Management Auditing and Rural and Community Health. I’ve been fortunate to deepen my leadership and service expertise through programs such as the NOSORH Rural Leadership Institute, the Disney Institute’s Approach to Quality Service, and the Physician Practice Management Program through MUSC and the South Carolina Hospital Association. Since 2021, I’ve proudly served on the Education Committee of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC), where I contribute to national strategies that strengthen the rural health workforce and promote clinic sustainability. My husband Brent and I live in New Holland, South Carolina, where we are raising five wonderful children—Gage, Caroline, Elizabeth Kate, and twins Ella and Beckett—on our family’s beef cattle farm. The values I learned growing up in a small town continue to guide my work and fuel my passion for building resilient rural health systems.
