Bio

Melanie J. Keams Program Coordinator, NMDOH/PHD/PCHB/OPCRH Raised in Arizona, and now based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Since 2012, she has worked extensively in rural areas, contributing significantly to their healthcare landscape. For the past three years, she has been an integral part of the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health. Along with coordinating the New Mexico J-1 Visa Waiver Program, Melanie also oversees the Primary Care Capital Fund Program and the Dental Support Center. Her extensive knowledge spans multiple immigration processes, federal and state requirements, and physician recruitment and retention. Melanie’s work is deeply rooted in her Native American heritage, reflecting her commitment to giving back to communities in need. Through her efforts with the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health, she continues to make significant strides in addressing healthcare shortages and enhancing care for indigent populations.
